After 1.4 million leads, 100,000 ad campaigns, and 5,000 marketing tests, I’ve seen a fair few law firms grow pretty large.
And one state stands out in particular.
Texas!
Why?
Well, one thing I have noticed is that attorneys from Texas tend to be more entrepreneurial than the rest.
Maybe it is because you are a self reliant people who don’t wait for handouts, or perhaps you simply adopt on the free spirit of American enterprise that surrounds you.
Whatever it is, Texas is one of the best places to grow your law firm.
While you are reading the very words on this page, someone in your state is making it big.
If you’d like to know how they do it, then pay close attention to this article.
I’m about to unveil a few simple steps you can implement today to grow your law firm. And don’t worry, I’ll keep it short and sweet.
Step 1: How To Become More Affordable WITHOUT Lowering Your Fees
In fact, you can even raise your fees with this one simple trick. More on that in a minute.
Attorneys are expensive for the average person, as you should be.
Everything you went through to get your license, all of the books you’ve read, and the cases you’ve taken on means that you are worth every penny people pay you.
However, you are still expensive for the average person.
You’ve probably come across this objection time and time again: “I can’t afford it”.
So you extend terms and collect payments.
Did you know, that you don’t have to do this?
Did you know that the most successful attorneys in Texas never offer ‘terms’, and they always get all of their money up front?
And to make it even more sexy, most of their clients can afford it.
They do it by using a clever financing trick that follows all the rules of the American Bar Association.
A lot of successful attorneys are using it. Here’s how it works:
1. First, find a lender who is willing to lend to people with a credit score of 600 or more.
2. The client applies for the loan.
3. The lender sends them the money, and the client then decides to pay you, or use the cash for something else.
Since your client can technically use the money for anything, paying you doesn’t violate the rules.
Imagine what would happen if your hefty legal fees, become affordable monthly payments?
There are attorneys who have seen their bottom line double because of this one simple change they’ve made in the way they charge clients.
Let’s say you’re after a DUI client.
And you charge $7,500 for your services.
And the client is offered a monthly payment plan of $125+ interest.
How much easier do you believe it will be to turn that prospect into a client.
And you get the $7,500 up front. No delayed payments, no chasing clients, and no worrying.

We’ve done it for several attorneys, especially in Texas.
Step 2: Raising Your Fees
You may, or may not, hate the idea of raising your fees. However, the most successful lawyers know that it is in their client’s best interest to do so.
Why?
Firstly, by using the financing trick I explained in step 1, you can still be incredibly affordable when you raise your fees. You’ll most probably still get more clients than your cheaper competition.
I’ve seen it happen many times.
Secondly, the movies have done all the hard work for you.
Everybody knows that the best attorneys are the ones who charge more. And by offering them an affordable way of obtaining your services, you’ll see your closing ratio increase.
A.k.a. more clients for you, at higher fees.
Thirdly, it is in your client’s best interest.
You will be able to provide the best possible service, because you’ll have the resources needed to do it.
By charging rock bottom prices, you cannot afford to spend a whole lot of time on your client’s case.
If something happens that requires special attention, you’ll struggle to cope if you’re charging low fees.
Step 3: Use your new cash for advertising to help more people
If you’ve followed the simple steps outlined so far you will have more clients, more money up front, and deploy a better service because of it.
This brings me to my next point. As an attorney you help to solve problems. Very big and real problems.
Texans don’t hire you because they want to, they hire you to help them with something.
And what do people do when they have a problem?
They search for a solution.
And the place they go is Google.
The average attorney does a poor job when it comes to advertising. They talk about themselves and how great they are.
The most successful attorneys do something different.
They talk about the prospect and THEIR problem. Then, they position themselves as the solution to that problem.
We call this the ‘Problem First Approach’ to advertising.
We currently have clients who are seeing incredible results from this kind of advertising. In fact, we have an in depth article explaining exactly how this works here.

Step 4: Grow one area of law at a time
Most attorneys go broad.
They go for criminal, family, estate planning, or whatever else.
However, the most successful attorneys focus on one specific area within those.
For example. Instead of getting people who look for a family lawyer. Focus on getting divorce clients.
Why?
Well, because people search out an attorney for the problem THEY have, not the area of law you studied.
In other words, if someone is looking for help with their divorce, a ‘divorce attorney’ sounds like a better fit than an ‘attorney that does family law’.
This doesn’t mean you need to rebrand your whole website. Simply have separate attorney marketing campaigns that focus on one specific area.
Once you’re getting a solid flow of clients from it, then cover another area of law.
This focused growth is what gets you from where you are right now, to the big legues.
It is a simple growth strategy that is almost always overlooked.
Step 5: How to deploy what you’ve learned in this article so that you can rapidly start growing your law firm
At this stage you are basically left with 2 choices.
Choice number #1, ignore what you’ve learned and go on your merry way.
There’s nothing wrong with that, a lot of attorneys decide to stay where they are and keep doing what they’ve been doing.
However, if you’d like to grow your law firm, get more clients, charge higher fees, and increase your yearly income, you should take choice #2.
